The purpose of this website is to provide all the information in one place, for Ngāpuhi whānau to make an informed decision on voting for the Ngāpuhi Endorsement Mandate. Te Rōpū Tūhono has considered all feedback on the evolved mandate for Treaty settlement negotiations. We now invite ALL whānau and Hapū of Ngāpuhi to vote on the evolved mandate.
All you need to know about the mandate and voting and can be found here. Voting opens 9am on Friday, 9 November 2018 and closes 12pm midday on Friday, 7 December 2018.
The time is now whānau, E Tū and have your say.
Who is Te Rōpū Tūhono?
Te Rōpū Tūhono was formed in February 2018 to lead the negotiations relating to the Ngāpuhi Treaty settlement with the Crown.
Previous negotiations were being managed by Tūhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority (TIMA) however some people were concerned that the TIMA model did not appropriately provide for Hapū rangatiratanga.
After listening to feedback, an engagement group was formed which comprised the Tūhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority (TIMA) and Te Kotahitanga ō Ngā Hapū ō Ngāpuhi (Te Kotahitanga) leaders. Thus, Te Rōpū Tūhono was born.
As yet, there is no settlement in place for Ngāpuhi. This is a mandate for new bodies to negotiate settlement redress - not to receive settlement redress.
We are at the tipping point where, with your support and vote, we can start to these negotiations for the betterment of everyone.
